Current Research Activities

The focus of Dr. Yuen’s research is in the field of neonatal gastroenterology and nutrition.  Based on the findings of Dr. Yuen’s animal studies on vitamin A and gut wound healing, she has completed a pilot clinical trial in preterm infants, in collaboration with David Knoppert (Clinical Pharmacology).  The follow-up study will aim to determine the vitamin A requirements of very low birth weight preterm infants.  Dr. Yuen’s clinical nutrition research is focused on the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based nutrition practice guidelines for preterm infants.  The objective of her current project is to develop and evaluate the evidence-based post NICU discharge nutrition resources for community health care providers.
