The Scientific Journey: Pathways to DiscoveryThe Children’s Health Research Institute’s research mandate
extends outside the laboratory with its efforts to bring research into
the classroom. In 2000, the Children’s Health Research Institute
in conjunction with local school boards initiated the first annual Students
and Science Essay Contest. The scope of this program was broadened in
2003 when it became a joint educational initiative sponsored by not only
CHRI but Partners in
Research and The University
of Western Ontario. Students participating in the annual essay contest, “The Scientific Journey: Pathways To Discovery” are provided with the opportunity to write about the impact of science in their lives through a personal story, a research breakthrough, or any topic of interest which they think underscores the importance of scientific research. This contest helps to inform and educate the schools, teachers and students in our community as to the presence and nature of research being conduced at CHRI and Western. Students are our future and CHRI is committed to being a resource of
tomorrow’s discoverers. |
