Bridging Operating Grants (One Year)
To provide one-year operating funds, affording Principal
Investigators an opportunity to resubmit their research proposal without loss of momentum, staff, or trainees. To be eligible, applicants have only to identify the IG as their primary or secondary affiliated Institute.
Value and Term: Up to $100,000 for a maximum of one year.
2010 Career Scientist Award
The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) is committed to fostering the growth of a provincial capacity to carry out and apply health services research. By investing in health researchers in Ontario, the ministry is working to ensure that the necessary human resources are present to respond to issues that are important to Ontario's health care system. The Career Scientist Program supports the early career development of health services researchers by providing salary support to outstanding candidates. Read more.
Ontario Genomics Institute (OGI) Summer Research Fellowships
OGI Summer Research Fellowships offer undergraduate students studying at Ontario universities unique opportunities to engage in meaningful, real-life research in the areas of genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics or related ethical, economic, environmental, legal or social issues (“GE3LS”). Under the direction of a supervisor, Fellows will conduct research in one of these areas in a laboratory or other appropriate academic setting.
The value of the 2010 Summer Research Fellowship is $5,000. A travel allowance will also be available to students and supervisors located outside the Greater Toronto Area to offset the costs of attending OGI Summer Research Fellowship events in Toronto.

Gates Grand Challenges in Global Health
The Grand Challenges in Global Health initiative is seeking innovative ideas for diagnostics in the developing world. Specifically, the Foundation seeks to create a new class of point-of-care (POC) diagnostics that will be easy to use, low cost and otherwise appropriate so that these new tools achieve significant impact and rapid uptake in resource-poor settings.

Medical Council of Canada - Fund for Research in Clinical Assessment
The award is intended to address two target groups: junior or other investigators starting out in the assessment field and students who are undertaking graduate education in assessment of clinical competence or performance and who are seeking support for their research which is part of their thesis requirements or postdoctoral program.
The steering committee will give priority to proposals that show promise in contributing to the knowledge and understanding of measurement in clinical assessment and to clinical program evaluation methods for medical education. The proposal must focus on research, not development, in the assessment of performance or clinical assessment. Read more.

The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) offers Senior Research Awards to investigators with an interest in myeloma who have been working in blood cancer research for a minimum of five years. Paralyzed Veterans of America / Spinal Cord Injury Education and Training Foundation
The mission of the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) Education Foundation is to fund innovative educational projects that enhance the quality of life of individuals with spinal cord injury or disease (SCI/D) and increase the knowledge and effectiveness of health professionals in the SCI/D community. This program is a strategic initiative to provide investigators who have recently completed research training with an early opportunity to develop and demonstrate ability to initiate and conduct independent health research. Progeria Research Foundation - Medical Research Grants
The foundation awards grants to applicants who seek to conduct research to find the cause, treatment, or cure for Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS). This is the only organization in the world dedicated to discovering the cure and effective treatment for Progeria and its aging related disorders through medical research, outreach and education.
